Are You Hanging By A Thread?
You have had those days.
Perhaps it’s even been for an entire season of life.
The storms are howling.
The ship is being buffeted by the waves. You’re being tossed around from side to side.
Life is crashing in on you. You are being smothered.
Like Jonathan Edwards’ famous sermon, you’re a sinner in the hand of an angry God.
An angry God’s hand of justice.
You are hanging by a thread.
Except.
Except for that same angry God.
He knows that you can’t hang on.
He knows you can’t make it on your own.
He sends another hand.
His strong right hand.
It’s the hand of grace.
The hand of His Son.
His hand takes you out of the angry hand.
His hand places you beside Him.
You’re hanging no more.
Are you hanging by a thread?

Some days my friend that seems to be all that I am hanging on by. I know it is not true, but my mind and heart say differently.
Bill, we all feel like that some days, don’t we?
I’ve definitely felt this way at times. It is comforting to know that we have a ROCK to stand on.
Amen, Jon!
It reminds me of the song by Lifehouse, Hanging by a moment. Life can be hard, but God’s grace is enough. Great post.
I’ll have to check that song out.
Great reminder, Larry!
Thanks Eileen.
Awesome reminder of grace. I love the wording of this… nice.
Thank you, my bearded friend.
Yup. I’m glad I don’t have to hold on.
Jamie, it’s awesome, isn’t it?
Very Poetic man…love it…
Thanks, Arny. Not sure where that came from.
I’ve been having a lot of “those days” recently. True story.
Kevin, I understand that. I’m praying for you as you face the uncertainty coming up.
Last year about this time I was–not anymore. Thankful for that.
I’m thankful for that for you as well, my friend. I know that time last year had to be extremely hard on all of you.
I hear you. I have my ups and downs, but His grace is sufficient. More good days, than bad lately. Thankful for that. It’s sometimes hard being an introvert in a largely extroverted world. I “perform” all day, and leave work exhausted. I need to have a little “me” time when I get home to be any good for my family.
I so agree. I’m an introvert also and work in a very extroverted position. I am always totally drained when I leave work. Me time is always good.
What I notice is that introverts have insights that many people do not have. Thanks for sharing today. Look forward to seeing more from you.
I’m in that middle ground. Not exactly an introvert, but not an introvert. I love having time around people, but I need that alone time.
My wife and I just went through a season were we where holding on by a thread. My new born son was in the NICU for 3 months and it was the hardest thing we have gone through. God was faithful and gave us strength. Great post.
Dan, I hope everything is good now. I know there may be challenges ahead and will pray.
Every thing is good now. Thank you for praying.
Great!!!
