First Church Year #16: Support

As you may know by now, I began my annual preaching ministry at a campground near my home.  One of the questions I had when we began attending and joined our new church was if they would support this ministry.

Let’s just say that I haven’t been disappointed.

A member of our Sunday school class remembered last Sunday that we would be beginning this week and prayed for us.  There was even this past Sunday talk about our Sunday School class coming  one Sunday and attending.

A member of the church asked Jan about it Wednesday night and is interested in helping us pass out fliers on Saturday nights.

My friend David, the youth minister, wants me to speak to the youth about it Wednesday night.  The youth may come up and help pass out fliers some.

Another member of the church sent me a message on Facebook Saturday night making sure that we were starting this week and offering prayer support.

It is awesome to be a part of a church that is supportive and cares about what you are doing ministry-wise.  As much as anything, this is one of the main reasons we are part of this body of believers and I love it.

Are you part of a ministry that isn’t confined within the four walls of the church?  Does your church support you?

I personally would not attend or be a part of a church that did not support or encourage other ministry’s that aren’t attached to the church. I’m not involved in any other ministry outside of my church but know they would support me if I was.

It’s all about each church and ministry helping and supporting each other to advance the Kingdom of God.

I have a music ministry. I visit two assisted living homes on the third weekend of each month and sing to the residents. I also visit our home bound members of the church to sing for them. The church does support me and often asks me to sing a special during Sunday services. I sing the old gospels. I have been at this ministry for over four years now. God has blessed us all!
Walk daily with God at your side!

I’m really glad your new church family is supporting the mission in the campground . That is exactly the way church is supposed to function. I know it is encouraging to you and it will also be good for them.
Our church, Pleasant Grove Baptist, is extremely.supportive of us and the things we do outside church walls. We haven’t always had that at other churches, and it really feels good to be part of a body that cares and shows it by love in action.

That’s real cool, Larry! I’m so glad you’re church is supporting and encouraging your campground ministry. It’s sweet that they want to partner with you in this, instead of seeing parachurch ministry as competition.

I am very happy for you Larry. It’s great when you care about something and others catch the vibe from you. We had a pastor change at our local church in the US last year. We have never met the new pastor in person but he has kept up a constant flow of email and snail mail since starting.

It is awesome when your passion is contagious. Glad to hear about your pastor holding you up.

Sounds like you’ve found a great fellowship there in the Holler.

What did Jesus say? “Them that ain’t against us is for us” (paraphrase). Awesome that you have that support, Larry! How cool!

We’re in the midst of transitioning away from a huge church to somewhere we can be, gulp, know and be known.
