The Difference A Year Makes

Approximately one year ago, I wrote a blog post that changed my life.  You won’t find it if you check the archives.  In fact, I deleted it some time back.

At that point in my life, I was going through negative experience and negative mindset.  I would not have admitted that second part if you had asked me.  I would have simply said that I was going through negative experience.  I would have said that I was the only positive person involved in the experience.

This was not the only blog post that I was negative in, but it was probably the tipping point of some things that were to come.  It was the one that pushed me past the edge of where I needed to be.

I caused myself some pain and heartache.

I caused my family pain and heartache.

But that is not what this post is about.

I hit rock bottom in some areas in my life.  I needed to.

Why?

It was the only way that I was going to be able to begin the climb back to where I needed to be.

It was the only way I was going to take that particular area in my life and become positive.

It was the only way I was going to be able to make my blog posts positive.

It was the only way that I was going to actually see where I was and where I needed to be.

Thanks to all of those who stuck with me.  Thanks to those who encouraged me.  Thanks to those who were honest with me.

It made all the difference in the world.

Have you ever looked back over a year and seen the difference that was made?

I definitely do know what a difference a year makes…..Fortunately I am not looking at it as…what a difference three years makes….I started dating my husband three years ago after a seven year stand of trying to save my first marriage. For seven years I was single because my husband left and had no desire to reconcile. I look back now and have not regrets over that time….but I am so very thankful that it led me where I am. Every year, we grow in God, in our faith. I never imagined I would be able to say that…..but God promised that if he would give me a marriage that was ‘better than I could imagine’…at the time I assumed He meant he would reconcile my first marriage. Now I truly understand that God works in mysterious ways…..but they are always amazingly blessed ways. I’m hoping you are and/or will experience the same blessings!!!!

Larry, I have. It’s INSANE how much my life has changed in one year. I went from a nervous breakdown to a break through when I finally figured out that I am a writer.

Jim—that is awesome. I’m fortunate to be the beneficiary of what has happened for you over this year. I count you as a great friend. I’m looking forward to meeting you in person one day.

I am not sure exactly when we “connected” via the web, Larry, but am so glad we did. I have slept in a year so obviously can’t remember the post, but so glad that God was able to get your attention and turn you around. I have benefited from that turnaround.

Thanks Bill. I’m a little hard headed, so it took Him a while. I’m proud to call you friend as well.

This last year has been a real game-changer for me. So far, it has sucked big time, but I’m learning some good lessons from it, so I guess it all balances out.
