The Amazing Spider-Man Review

My family and I rarely go to the theater to see movies.  It takes something special for us to forsake watching our latest Netflix offereing  Like The Avengers before it, The Amazing Spider-Man got me in the theater this year for the second time.

Many people much more qualified than me have given their reviews of Spidey.  However, there are a couple of scenes I want to mention.

I thought Andrew Garfield captured the pure joy that a teenager would have in exploring his new-found powers.  Garfield’s Peter Parker relished his new abilities and his web-shooting ability.  Add in his believable nerdiness and I could almost feel Lee’s and Ditko’s 60′s incarnation of Peter/Spidey swinging from the screen.

The other things I want to mention was the new take on the whole responsibility thing.  No, we didn’t hear the “With great power comes great responsiblity” speech.  I loved, though, that Uncle Ben pressed the moral responsiblity to help others.

The greatest endorsement I can give this film comes from my lovely wife, Jan.  She is fairly neutral about superhero movies.  She watches them with me because I watch many chick flicks with her.  She came away from The Amazing Spider-Man saying she loved this movie.

Have you seen this movie?  Do you go to the movies often?  What other movies have you seen lately that you like?  What are you looking forward to?

I have not seen it yet. We had given some thought to seeing it on the 4th but that fell through. Due to cost we see very few movies. The last one we saw The Avengers. That was a great movie! I am anxious to see this new Spiderman.

I’m not a big comic or superhero guy, but this one I’d like to see. Sounds like a really unique take on the story.
I never go to the movies any more, but I did go fairly recently to see MIB3. It was a good cap-off to the series.

Saw it on the 4th and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thought the cast was terrific, the story somewhat plausible (for a superhero movie), and great visuals.

My wife took me for my birthday. It was very enjoyable and well-done. I liked how Peter owned up to what he’d done, and then did something about it.

Thanks for the reivew. I have not seen the movie yet. My wife and I uselly wait until they come out on Redbox, so we don’t really go to the movies. I think I might go see the new Bourne movie though.

Saw the preview at the Spidey movie. Looks like a worthy addition.
We only go a few times a year. My son and I may go see Dark Knight.

Haven’t seen it yet, but I am looking forward to it. I had a great time with my sons seeing the Avengers on the big screen. Thanks for the review.
