Are You In The Spirit?

Somewhere around 2,000 years ago, a fellow woke up one morning on an island.  He may have laid there a few minutes longer than normal. He was getting older, after all.  Life on the island was hard.  It could be lonely as well.

After he stoked up the fire, he might have fixed some breakfast.  He blessed it and ate, praising the Lord he had walked with in what seemed like a lifetime to go.

It was a day just like any other day.  Except.  Except that it was the Lord’s Day.

It was Sunday.  The day that the Lord had been resurrected.  Earlier in his life, the Sabbath had been the day that was set aside in his life.  Now, it was the Lord’s day.

After breakfast he cleaned up and set about to spend his day in worship.

Guess what?

He was in the Spirit.

I don’t know exactly what that means.  I’m sure John was filled with the Spirit.  The word of Christ richly indwelled him.  He walked in the Spirit.

He was in the Spirit.

And he received a vision.  An unveiling.  A revelation.

On the Lord’s Day.  In the Spirit.

I can’t guarantee that you will receive a vision or a revelation today.  But I can’t guarantee that you won’t.

However, I have one question for you as you get up to go to church and as you worship today.

Are you in the Spirit?
