4 Things About Dreams

I get up early every morning in pursuit of a dream.  It’s a dream that grows every day and, honestly, gets tweaked every so often.

As I think and ponder about dreams, one of the things I want to do in combination with my dream is help other people achieve theirs.  This occurs in my job and it happens in this dream of writing.

Here are four things that I have realized as I have been pursuing my dreams.

Dreams have a starting point

One of the major questions that has to be answered is where is your dream coming from.  Is it coming from someone else?  It really won’t work.  You might be able to perform tasks, but you will not be satisfied.

Is your dream coming from you?   It will work, but you may not be totally content with your dream.  You can pursue happiness, but that might not be enough.

Is your dream from God?  If so, you will have joy and peace that you cannot get anywhere else.

Dreams have their own size

Size matters if you’re shooting a gun at something.  If you’re shooting at a grizzly or polar bear, you’d better have a gun that can do the job.

However, size doesn’t when it comes to your dream.  Is your dream to be a CEO?  Good.  Is your dream to pay for your child’s college education?  Awesome.  The first is not greater than the second.

What matters is the importance of the dream to you.  It matters if it’s your dream

Dreams will change

The dreams you have now are not the same dreams that you had when you were five years old.  They won’t be the same dreams you have when you are seventy-five.

Some of your dreams will change with maturity.  Others will change due to your physical ability.  The fact is, they will change.

Dreams don’t just happen

You have to work for your dream.  If you want to be a CEO, you will have to sacrifice doing other things to make that happen.

If you want to pay for your child’s education, you will have to decide not to buy some things.  You may have to reduce your debt.  There may be one hundred other things you will have to do.

There’s a lot that goes into pursuing a dream.  If you’re going to chase after a dream, your motivation needs to be right.

What would you add about dreams?

Finding a dream has been hard for me. I have found them, but I don’t know if I’m a natural dreamer. This list is most excellent.

All good points to consider when deciding whether to pursue a dream or not.
