Why Are You Here?

Today you will rise from bed and begin your day.  You will probably shower and shave, if you are a guy.  If not, you will probably apply your makeup and other mysteries we men are not familiar with.

You will probably head to work and put in your eight plus hours.  Afterwards, it will be time to go home and prepare dinner.  Next will come some chores and then you may settle down for the evening.

Tomorrow, you will do it again.

The question, whether you ask it or even realize it, is why are you here?

You aren’t here to simply go through the motions of life.  It isn’t meant to be a treadmill, where you make a lot of steps without getting anywhere.

What are you CALLED to do?  What is the one thing at your deepest core that you know you are supposed to do?

What is your DREAM?  What do you want more than anything else in the world?

What is your MINISTRY?  What are you doing to make the world around you better?  What are you doing to help your fellow man?

What is your PASSION?  What consumes you from the time you wake up in the morning until you go to sleep at night?

These are the things of life.  These are the things that make up your families and your avocations.

Why are you here?

To act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with my God.

To live so that the light I carry within me will shine forth in the dark places.

The long answer would include things like “because He came for me, we are to serve as he served, etc.”

The short answer? I’m here because I’m not all there. 🙂
