What Is Life?

I think that most of us want to know what life is really all about.

Sure, we go to work.  We get married and have relationships.  Children come along.  We lose pets along the way.  Aches and pains are more frequent at a certain point.  We face our mortality.  Those are just what we face.  Components.  What is life, really?

It has to be more than just a span of years filled with breaths and days and minutes stacked upon each other.

For many of us it means one thing:  Living for Christ.  Pursuing Him.  Giving Him glory.  Worshiping Him.  Doing for Him.

What if we have it wrong?  What if that isn’t what life for us is really all about or what she should be pursuing?

What if it is something completely different?  What if it’s not really about living for Christ?

What if it was really about this?

What if it’s really about dying to ourselves?  Sacrificing ourselves, our dreams, our desires.  Giving up what we want.

What if it was really about letting Christ live through you?  Living His dreams.  Delighting ourselves in Him, with Him giving us the desires of our hearts, new desires, His desires.

Do we really want to know  what life really is?  It may be time to radically change our perspective, even from all that we have learned and known all of our lives.

Do you know what life really is?

I think if I am going to live the life of a Christ-follower it is all of those.

I’m convinced that we only know mirages of what life is really supposed to be like. We find joy in temporary things when eternal joy is offered. We find excitement in things that fade when there is an inheritance waiting that will never spoil or fade.
