Where Does Vision Come From?

It is said that when Walt Disney World opened someone said to Walt’s family, “If only Walt could see this.” The response was not what we might expect.

“Walt saw it first.” was what the family replied back to the statement.

The more you know about Walt Disney there a little doubt this statement is true. Walt Disney was a man of vision. He saw Walt Disney World and even after his death, his vision was fulfilled.

Few of us will have a vision on the scale of Walt Disney. However, that shouldn’t discourage us from developing vision and pursuing it. Many of us might wonder where to start.

I say start with God.

When I read the Bible, I see God giving people vision from the beginning to end.

God gave Abraham a vision to move to another land.

God gave Moses a vision to set his people free.

He gave David a vision of being a king.

He gave Nehemiah a vision of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.

He gave Paul the vision of being an apostle to the Gentiles.

You can’t tell me that He doesn’t have a vision for you and me.

We might say that we have no idea what the vision is. The problem may be that we aren’t listening. Maybe we aren’t even asking.

Wouldn’t you like to have a vision for your life from the Lord? Let’s do a couple of simple things.

Let’s ask Him for one and then let’s listen for it.
